Self Evaluation

Self Evaluation

Describe your game (including a title).
Ice Palace of Doom is a platform type game. Your mission is to find the escape pod and fled all the on coming enemies. But before you can escape there are some locked doors that you have to find keys for. It's a challenging game for those who like to get a challenge or two in your day.

What is the objective of the game?
The objective of the game is to find your way out of the Ice Palace and get to the escape pod.

Discuss two strengths and one weakness of your game.
Strengths:
-It's not an easy game, so there's a challenge for some people that enjoy a challenge in their daily lives.
-It's fun to try and enjoy the enemies you encounter and all the obstacles you have to go through.
Weakness:
-It's quite long, so if you die near the end it's going to be a while before you get back to your spot.

What improvements could be made?
Maybe some more med packs could be added so it's not as hard as some may think it is.

What difficulties did you encounter while creating your game?
A difficulty I encountered while creating this game is at the start when you're just getting to know the features. It takes a while to understand and see what all you can use.

What did you have to modify or change from the original design?
In my original design I said that I would have for some missions to kill all enemies and get some crystals and get to the escape pod to win, but learning from the features I could only make one mission so that was then now to get to the escape pod.

Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your performance during this assignment.
What did you do well at?
I use my class time very proficiently and try to improve my game any way I could.

What could you have done better at?
Instead of making the whole level above ground, possibly putting some of it down underneath because I could have put some more features and cool designs there.

Questions
1.)
Is the game to challenging/hard?
2.)Are more enemies or power-ups needed to help?
3.)Is there anything that I could have done to make the game better?

The objective of the game was to kill all of the ememies. It's called the X Basement, it has lots of weapons to use to kill some of the harder enemies.

List two strengths of the game.
-It's fun, lots of things to enjoy in the gameplay.
-There is a slight challenge.

List one weakness of the game.
-It's quite short.

Answer the three questions provided by the game’s designer.

How did you feel about the underground route instead of just playing on the outside?
I felt like there could have been more part of the level above ground but I like the idea of underground.

Did you think i added to many power up such as med-kits and guns ?
Yes, I think there was a bit to much, because once you got to a certain point there was a mass amount and then it seemed to be easy there on.

Do you guys think that the game was long enough to play ?
No, I think it could have been much longer. Short games aren't the best type. People can finsih the game within 2 minutes.

Plan

What will you do first? Why?
The first thing I will do with my game is just test out the different items and landcapes. Just take a look at what all I have to work with. Doing this will help me understand what all I have to work with and I then know what I can use at certain points.

How will you insure that you complete the project on time?
I will insure I complete this project on time by using all my time in class i have with effort and purpose. If I think I need to catch up or Make some finsihing touches I will also work at home.

Who will test beta versions of your game?
I will ask a variety of people to test my game out and see what they think.

Will you incorporate other people’s suggestions into your game’s design?
Yes, incorporating other people's ideas will help improve your game tremendously. Other people can let you know what needs to be fixed or what maybe be a good suggestion.

How will you decide if you have created a good game or not?
I will decide if I have created a good game or not because I will take a look at the game difficulty, and if it's to low or high I know i have to change things up a bit. Also I will at the end of my game ask other people for their finally idea of the game.

Design

What type of game are you going to produce?
The game type i'm planning on creating is a Platform type.

What will it look like?
It will look sort of like a Mario type game setting. Blocks in set positions or some bad guys you have to fight off, possibly some items you must collect in a peroid of time.

How will the characters be controlled?
The characters will be controlled with a set of simple keys. "up arrow" key is to jump, "down arrow" key to crouch, and the "left and right arrow" keys to move side to side. The "space bar" will be to attack with your designated weapon, the "r" button for your radar, "x" button is for next tool, and "z" for your next weapon.

What will be the objective of the game?
The objective of the game will be to fight of all the enemies and once done so, get to the extraction point where you then complete the game.

How are you going to test its functionality?
To test it's functionality I will be testing the game out regularly. For example, everytime I add a part to the level I will make sure it's in the right postion and spot.

How will it be evaluated?
My game will be evaluated by others. Once I finsh part of my game design I will ask a variety of people to test out my game and see what they think about it and get their feed back on it. With this I will be able to get suggestions from others and improve my game to the next level.

How long will you need to create it? Give a timeline for its completion.
In my eyes from looking at some of the other games created I think it will take me about 3 weeks to a month possibly to make this game and complete is with every detail.
